A softer alternative

AshleyAnn (first time commentor, long time lurker - cause of a Seeqpod a while back) suggested - in yesterday's comments - that A Softer World might be a better option than Tiny Ghosts.

I dunno...the tone's a fair bit darker, and the language a bit more . Doesn't mean it's worse, but I'm only a third of the way through the archives, so I haven't made up my mind.

Vote in the poll after checking out a few examples from A Softer World.

I like them both but i feel like a softer world is a bit cliche, a bit forced. even manufactured

baby's to brake meh
whales to do die meh

that's the easy "dark" overheard in a basement full of teens watching traditional "hey subverting mores and adding cuss words is funny" type comedy

I'd say Tiny Ghosts gets my vote because I'm looking to laugh through unexpected storytelling.

It's like comparing the writing In Juno vs. Rushmore...even though one writer has a joke, media generated academy award there really isn't a comparison.

I'm reminded of the attempts at gaining shock value of Post Secrets using brief and outrageous statements on artsy photography. So much so that I actually recognized the one on the first page of Tiny Ghosts from an older Post Secret postcard.
They're entertaining, sure, but all variations of a theme.

PS: I prefer A Softer World...

wow. i think greek god man actually took the words out of my mouth for the first time ever. (hyperbole...maybe...)

softer world is a lot more hit or miss. #290, and 291 are pretty cool but the rest of them make me feel like the sad xkcd comics do. just, not satisfied.

Good call, Lakes...the anger, the pathos in Softer World just seems a little more forced...

the sad XKCD comics are absolutely heartbreaking...the one about not being able to ever walk far enough was just heart-wrenching...as was one about a month ago...don't remember the topic, but wow...

here's the one I was thinking of...heart-breaking, I tell you...wow...
